The Greentree House by Kevin O’Sullivan

The Amagansett area in East Hampton, Long Island is almost completely surrounded by the Silver Beech Forest Preserve. The Greentree house by the Scottish architect, Kevin O’Sullivan perfectly blends into its botanical surroundings. The use of luxury materials such as teak, travertine, and terrazzo marble flooring are repeated throughout the house, creating a harmonious whole. One of the most remarkable aspects of the house are the massive walls of glass that allow the magnificent beauty, natural lighting and complete privacy of the Silver Beech Forest to become an integral part of the home. A great example of the stunning effect created by natural lighting is the staircase area. The light shines through the wooden panels of the staircase, creating a graphic shading effect on the downstairs lounge.
